  1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

We’ve used Hilary’s loads over the years, for blinds and shutters. Similar to World of Leather or DFS, there always seems to be a sale on!

How about vertical blinds? Their angle can be adjusted to block direct sun, but still let diffused light in.

Another option is ' top down bottom up ' blinds. Great control of blocking out glare where neeeded and at the same time allowing plenty of light in...(blinds to go).

I encountered exactly the same issue as the OP and settled on deep slatted Venetian blinds as the best compromise. I'd be interested to see what other options there are as they do make the room a bit too dark on a sunny day in direct sunlight and obscure the view.

Blinds 2 Go were great and we've used them several times now.

This was my second option, but the planning, effort and expense involved made my head hurt. It also reduces natural light inside the room at less sunny times to almost nothing.

Room is east facing with a large window.

The simple solution is to spend the morning doing the crossword in ink and drinking coffee on the veranda. Pen a few letters on your personalized stationery using the same ink pen. A fine time walk the dog if you have one.

Sunscreen roller blinds will do what you need. They eliminate direct sunlight but still let a surprising amount of light in. I have one in the room where a lot of my vinyl is shelved and it seems to have halted any light fading on the spines.
