Wilson-Benesch GMT One Turntable

I did a factory tour many years ago, there was nothing particularly impressive about it, didn’t strike me as being an extravagant company. Owners believed in what they were doing though, do a lot of R&D in conjunction with local uni.

Amazed they are still going really, a niche within a niche.

Their Full Circle turntable was the first hifi product that I really lusted after. I saw one in the window of a shop in Covent Garden (Music Matters?) and was smitten. Gorgeous design.

Sadly that thing exemplifies much TT design today. Massive, high mass & bling with a silly price tag.

The rip sounded decent if quite noisy.Bass a bit dry and overdamped.

At 30:40 in the video below from hi-End last year is a presentation from WB on the turntable technology. Seems the goal is to be more of a technology tour de force than to enjoy LPs on. I can't see how they'll ever recover the R&D.
