Welcome Fozz. I think you'll like it here.

I run a DM20/DM30 into Saras; I think I'd like your system!

I have been thinking of getting a DP-Drive; how do you rate it?

Gentlemen:

For your approval or disapprobation, I submit my current audio system:

Rega Planet CD player
Naim Nait 5i amplifier
Spendor S3/5 speakers

wires are generic

The "theme" of this system: analogue emulation from a digital source. Finally retired the old Victrola, after a century or so.

Hi RustyB,

I’m very happy with the DP-Drive, it was the first piece of Densen gear that I bought and was tried after I suspected that the phono stage on my intergrated amp at that time (Audiolab 8000A) was not up to much, as I had been unable to hear much of an improvement at home when I upgraded from an Axis to a LP12 and then to a Lingo! When the DP-Drive was plugged in it was suddenly “WOW!” I could hear everything that my LP12 was doing!

My DP-Drive is the MM version but I like the idea of the MC one with its light powered phono stage...very ingenous!

The Audiolab was soon relieved of it’s duties and replaced with a DM-10 which was a lovely amp and was kept for a couple of years before upgrading to a DM-20/DM-30 pre-power. The biggest improvement came though when I bought another DM-30 second hand to go bi-amped, I went to my dealers to get another interconnect to connect it all up with and he mentioned he had a Linn Tune box with some active Kelidh cards in it if I was interested! So I ended up going from a pre power to a bi-active system in one jump! And a very satisfying and enjoyable jump it was too!

I have though recently spotted another DM-30 for sale and the urge to go tri-active is strong! However a lack of funds and recently becoming married probably rules it out (for the moment!;) )

Indeed it is; if only people who belong here join, the place will remain small. If enough pople with other "flavour" systems join, this place'll get even more interesting.

So, welcome!

Currently banging out a recently aquired Captain Beefheart live album from the 70's, not the done thing for such a flash system at all, sort of negates the point of hi-fi; but hey, I cant cope with just playing Demo albums all the time

3 guesses as to the identity of the dealer (well it is his signature system sort of; it sits on Hutter if thats any help.

Currently engaged on a quest to improve on the LP12

No 2 system (wife accessible) consists of mid70's nac12s/nap250 driving Kans; lovely.provided there is no bass.

Did all the late 90's Naim stuff - not too impressed.

Cannnot imagine ever replacing any component in current system, unlike my mid- and late- period Naim phobias

As at midnight on 18-12-04 the system is as follows:

Gyro/SME4/AT150MLX
Cyrus dad7/PSXR CD
Yaqin MC10K tube amp
Musical Fidelity T1 Tuner
Revox B77 open reel
Inpulse H2 speakers
Chord Silver Siren interconnects
Origin Live Soli-Core speaker cables.
Sound Org wall shelf X2 and HFN/RR 'Wall-nut' 2 tier wall shelf X1
Dedicated mains spur

Tomorrow.......who knows :D

I'm in limbo just now since I can't use my system while I'm away (most of the time), but as far as I recall it's:

LP12/Ittok/Valhalla/Denon DL110
Naim CD3.5/SNAPS
72/DIYHI/250
SBL's
JVC BRS711U (Hi-Fi VCR)/Nakamichi LX5/Nakamichi LX3 (last two are temporary for now).

Soon to be adding a re-plinthed Lenco L75 (just for fun) with Rega or Linn arm (not procured yet).

Since I'm a died-in-the-wool Analogue fanatic (the CD3.5 is just for when I can't be bothered to spin a disk), I'm experimenting with turntables just now, lots of fun potentially to update an old TT with modern day 'tricks'.

Ta-Ta
Mike
