What is still truely British today?

Twenty years ago a UK assembly worker would have earned about GBP800 per month.
At that time Malaysia could pay as little as GBP70. Over the next few years Malaysian rates "soared" to GBP120 and most factories relocated to China, which was about half that (but with large hidden costs). Now China is often more expensive than Malaysia (around GBP200 now)
So the UK is still not competitive for labour intensive assembly, but rising Asian costs have some link to the rocketing cost of new HiFi
