The Associates debut album The Affectionate Punch.

Haven't played in yonks, still sounds as vital as it did in 1980.

Tracks like A Matter of Gender, Logan Time, Dogs in the Wild firmly re-established as ear-worms.

Thats given me a nudge to play some Associates.
Billy would have been 60 this year.
I have often wondered what great music he would have put out over the years if he hadn't of died.

CD of Gurrelieder by Schoenberg, as fresh as it was when I 'discovered' if over 45 years ago. It sounds pretty realistic on my kit too.

Alan,
Excellent choice.
What system are you using now?
Have you settled or are you still chopping and changing ?

Thanks, Barry. I gave up the chopping and changing a while ago now.
I use a headphone system (no room for speakers):
SACD/CD - Esoteric X-03SE
'Phones - Stax 007
Amp - Mjolnir Audio Mini HGSSHV
Turntable set up - Acoustic Signature Manfred mk 2, AS TA-700 arm, Ortofon Quintet cart.
Phono stage - Project Phono box RS with battery PS.
Very enjoyable set up.

Alan,
Glad you have at last got to a happy place.

Saw the B52's in Vegas a few years ago (2011?)

They were due to play at the hotel we were staying at - The Cosmopolitan - but demand for tix was so high they moved it another venue (which was a long walk away) They were bloody awesome nonetheless.

I met Don Was from Was not Was in the elevator going up to our room afterwards.

Memorable night.

I had the first spool of tape in the UK of the B52's first album.
Don Was is a legend for everything he has ever put out and produced.
Even more greatness for being the owner of Blue Note Records

Hmmm....I had forgotten about that. Shame, he was a brilliant vocalist.

Dixie by the fabulous Sidney Bechet (10" Blue Note).

Grand master of the soprano saxophone indeed. Kenny G should be ashamed.
