I've been listening to Owen Pallet for years. He's a very well respected Torontonian, who's often a finalist/winner in Canada's Polaris Prize (similar to the Mercury Prize in the U.K.). Very cool stuff!
What's even cooler is that I'm finally able to listen to this vinyl record, now that I've moved my system into my office.
Often overlooked (unfairly IMHO) this is the debut of the 'final' line up. Though sonically not their best, it has some great songs especially Undertow, Snowbound and The lady lies. Collins has rarely sung better—I love his backing vocals on Little Nemo. Burning rope is spectacular.
Typically, the weakest song became their first big hit.
Crossroads soundtrack - Ry Cooder. Belting stuff, mucky blues and the film's worth a watch. The final scenes with the dual between Ry Cooder and Steve Vai feature some alarmingly virtuosic guitar playing. Always makes me smile.
