War declared, Israel v Palestine...

Vaush wading through the footage including a lot the mainstream has missed including some real violence from Zionist thugs separating and kicking the shit out of some peaceful student protesters about 20 minutes in. Real full-on violence of the type one would expect from Proud Boys, KKK, EDL etc. Vaush is right here in that if any of this violence was from the peace, ceasefire, Palestinian side it would be splashed across front pages right across the world, but as it is Zionist/far-right violence there is silence and if anything the police just join in with the beatings.

Huge numbers of police going into UCLA campus right about now. Students chanting “peaceful protest”. Expect a lot of gratuitous violence from the notorious LAPD, notable by their absence when pro Israeli groups violently attacked students on Tuesday. Coverage live on Al Jazeera English.

I can't help but admire the courage of the students who must realise that they are likely to get battered by the police. There was a brave Jewish female student on r4 this morning who brilliantly summarised the student Pro Palestine position.

Would I have been brave enough as a student to join the protest? Probably not, I'm ashamed to say.

Massive police operation breaches UCLA pro-Palestinian encampment, makes arrests

[of course the LAPD chose the cover of darkness to better conceal their activities and to make it more terrifying for the students]

Officers wearing body armor, helmets and face shields methodically pulled apart the barricade as protesters tried to hold together the assemblage of plywood and metal fencing. Flares arced overhead, igniting with piercing blasts, and smoke filled the air from fire extinguishers that demonstrators sprayed at the police.

Police launched flares over the encampment that set off loud blasts. Officers watched the scene from the high windows of Royce Hall, infuriating protesters who shone lights in their eyes and challenged them to come down.
There were several fronts of the operation, with police using flash-bang type devices that echoed across campus. Officers managed to remove a row of barriers and began dismantling tents.

Jewish students condemn ‘toxic’ anti-Israel protests on UK campuses

Union of Jewish Students deplores ‘torrent of antisemitic hatred’ in British universities since start of Israel-Gaza war

Representing 9,000 Jewish students in the UK and Ireland, the UJS said: “While students have a right to protest, these encampments create a hostile and toxic atmosphere on campus for Jewish students.”

US lawmakers accused of equating criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has blasted US lawmakers who voted overwhelmingly to approve a bill that broadens the definition of anti-Semitism in the US.
The proposal, which aims to codify a new definition of anti-Semitism, was passed 320-91 and will now have to be also approved by the Senate. Critics fear the new definition – which is taken from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) – will be used to label any criticism of Israel in the US as anti-Semitic.
“Tonight we condemned members of the US House of Representatives who voted to approve a one-sided and dishonest proposal about campus antisemitism that ignored anti-Palestinian racism and conflates criticism of Israel with antisemitism,” CAIR said in a post on social media.
“The push to adopt this act was motivated by an anti-Palestinian bias aimed at stifling young student voices advocating for Palestinian human rights, especially following Israel’s genocidal invasion of Gaza,” CAIR’s Robert S McCaw said in a statement.

The 'working definition' adopted in this bill states that it is antisemitism to criticize Israel as a racist state. They say this denies Israel's right to exist. By this logic, they are saying Israel cannot exist if it is not racist.

The definition also says that it is antisemitic to compare Israelis to Nazis. Except what if they actually do compare to Nazis? Isn't truth ordinarily a defense to slander?

From the Jewish Chronicle 22/12/20

"The head of the Union of Jewish Students says the group “represents a proud Zionist voice” despite members voting down a motion describing it as “Zionist” earlier this month.

“There has been much comment made about a motion that was discussed at conference but did not pass by a narrow margin,” UJS president James Harris acknowledged Tuesday.

However he maintained that UJS “opposes anti-Israel rhetoric on campus, combats BDS in all its forms, and represents a proud Zionist voice, one which supports Israel as a Jewish and a democratic state.”

"....A Jewish and democratic state?" Impossible to be both, the way they mean Jewish....
