Ukraine V

thanks, i would have thought that if russian cassualties are possible to estimate, +/-, the same would go for ukries. anyways,....
Well that's what has been done in the Reuters article posted, and this article is largely in line with previous US estimations of Ukranian casualties.

One thing that sticks out, and which is consistent with the hearsay from the war, is the larger percentage of killed amongst the Russian casualties (about 19%) vs. the Ukranians (11-12%). Probably the Ukranians are simply more effective in getting timely treatment for wounded soldiers.

Another thing that sticks out is that in the Reuter's article, the total casualites are simply the sum of the killed + wounded, so it seems these figures do not in fact include prisoners or deserters. There are several thousands of these as well.

When reading the Ukranian assessmens of Russian losses, I would read these as not killed/destroyed but more as total casualties. With this in mind, they do in fact appear to be at least somewhat related to reality, which is more than we can say about the Russian MoD estimates.

I would say it's also also to do with very outdated Russian tactics - keep throwing conscripts at the enemy to overwhelm.

well i am not so sure about what we actually know about russian tactics, we actually hear more about once things either become obvious or the information sharing cant harm ukrainian defence. for example i read recently something about russian jamming of himars electronics that i had no clue its possible. i was wondering why no more results from such a sophisticated weapon and - voila.

Fill your boots.

"Disposable infantry are used for continuous skirmishing to either identify Ukrainian firing positions, which are then targeted by specialised infantry, or to find weak points in Ukrainian defences to be prioritised for assault. "

"Russia’s disposable infantry should be considered fundamentally different and are drawn from three principal sources: conscripts from the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics (heavily attrited from early rounds of fighting); prisoners drafted by the Wagner Group; and undertrained mobilised Russian civilians. These troops were originally formed into companies of approximately 60 people, but have since been broken down into platoons of approximately 15. They are issued with small arms. Ukrainian troops report that they often appear to be under the influence of amphetamines or other narcotic substances, with material recovered from the battlefield indicating that these are commonly taken in liquid form. In the attack, disposable infantry are the first to be employed."

Real care for it's brave fighting forces - amped up and thrown at Ukrainian defences. No wonder they're being killed an injured in the numbers they are.

The “world’s number 2 armed power” that relies on emptying its prisons of murderers, rapists and thieves, putting a rifle/ shovel into their hands and sending them forward to attack dug in positions with a gun pointed at their back ( or wait in their own trench for death to come to them).

It’s a curiosity, though probably not a diversion in the military sense. Ukraine will need something on a bigger scale when it comes time to launch their counteroffensive.
Meanwhile in Russia the fantasists openly float the idea of missile strikes on Berlin, London, Poland. They’re getting themselves into a supremacist lather and it’s not a pretty sight.

Anti Putin Russian milita launched an attack. more details on here.

Don't know whether its bad form or against the AUP to directly quote utube comments, and I'll remove if so, but I found this rather apt:

'Breaking news: Putin announces a new Special Military Operation to defend Russian speaking Russians from Russians invading Russia from Russia.'
