Double jeopardy in the box.If that’s a penalty (I’m slightly dubious) why isn’t Rodri sent off?

I agree with the principle but I was under the impression that if it’s a goal scoring chance denied it’s a sending off.Double jeopardy in the box.
If he was last man outside would be red.
Firstly, never a penalty, secondly, because it was awarded the player should have gone.I agree with the principle but I was under the impression that if it’s a goal scoring chance denied it’s a sending off.

Not if it is inside the box: "Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.), the offending player must be sent off."I agree with the principle but I was under the impression that if it’s a goal scoring chance denied it’s a sending off.

Agreed, they have changed their style of play & it seems to be working.I really enjoyed Spains style of play, the old tippy-tappy, although successful, used to bore me to tears.
