Tory leadership failure Part V: Rishi ‘Infosys’ Sunak

Toby Young will be back in front line tory politics with "popular eugenics" soon. It seems but a dream that the views and policies openly pursued now were enough to get sacked a short while ago. What next?

The Conservative Party has clearly failed on every single metric where they (laughably) claimed competence in previous incarnations; economics, trade, law & order, stability, prosperity, living standards etc. All they have left is to follow Trump, Oban, QAnon etc to fascism. They’ve burned everything else to the ground.

What’s remarkable is that a rump will still vote for them. It’s Decline and Fall territory.

He should be recalled now and not slurp from the trough one minute longer.

Yep, this isn't news. He's already had the whip removed and there was no chance of him being selected as a candidate again so those declarations are a whole load of nothing. Meanwhile he'll be hanging on for his salary until the bitter end.

Only 80 years ago it got you bombed.
The current cabinet would have joined the Axis powers

This is a scheme to fix the NHS waiting list problem, if you are not allowed to be sick you can`t need a hospital appointment can you?

Don`t say Rishi doesn`t have innovative solutions to the nations problems.
I expect that once they've got the Rwanda Is Safe, No Honest It Really Is bill through Parliament, they'll move on to The NHS Is Fixed bill, the People Are No Longer Sick bill, and the That's Not Shit In The River, Those Brown Floaty Things Are Definitely Baby Otters bill.

An old article here…

…but it reveals why we have so many on benefits. “The report’s co-author, Prof Steve Fothergill, said: “The long-term effect of job destruction in older industrial Britain has been to park vast numbers out of the labour market on incapacity benefits, these days employment and support allowance (ESA). The cost to the Treasury is immense, especially if all the top-up benefits are included.

“Added to this, low wages in these weaker local economies have jacked up spending on in-work benefits such as tax credits and reduced income tax revenue. None of these impacts have diminished over the years, despite the recent upturn and efforts to cut claimant numbers.”

Gosh, whod’a thought it? The ideological obsession with cuts to spending and making people underemployed is much more expensive.

Thank goodness we will have a Labour Party with honesty and integrity who will definitely fix immigration, the NHS, caring for the sick and nationalising broken privatisations as a matter of principle!

An ex-Home Secretary states her govt’s policies are ‘being thwarted by human rights laws’ while a Foreign Office minister claims ‘Kigali is safer than London’.
Britain has lurched from being a non serious country into full Alice in Wonderland territory.
I have an alternative idea about who should be on the inaugural Kigali flight with a one way ticket and accommodation paid up front.

Bizarre isn’t it? Safer than London! Did he think before opening mouth? He’s the same guy who two years ago said the Rwanda thing was impractical and ineffective. Now he’s a rabid fan blaming the peers for obstructing the elected house. Mostly Tory peers he seems to conveniently overlook.

Looks like lame duck Sunak will order a Boris-style lock in at Westminster until his futile, ruinously expensive policy is forced through both houses. The more fascinating moves will be those of Starmer and Lammy.

No doubt all fact checked by the Ministry of Truth.

At the other end of the scale it is very noticeable that the Tories keep putting up increasingly hopeless, desperate, dispirited apologists to waffle endlessly on programs such as Newsnight..Politics Live etc.
Sadly, the Beeb still insist on platforming borderline irrelevancies such as Tice on QT for 'balance'.

John Crace today on the Groan...

He had a "Strawberry tart" attack a coupe of weeks back.

He return recovered and right on form last week, this above link is hilarious.

John C is the resident Guardians political sketch writer, a great one imo.

CiF probably will not open on this rishi scathing sketch. :(

Who are we at war with, or about to declare war on?

Never and shortage of money for a war? Any war?
