Thread for Random But Worthwhile Links

He moved South as a lad.

Yes, but to Sussex. I think L was from Dorset, but P from the Midlands. And isn’t Olivia Newton-John Australian? I’ve never heard of the two artists in neighbouring counties to me (Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.)

Cloud 'lensing' of Solar Radiation....

Now you're going to have to take my word for this.. but for many years .. as a devout Sun worshipper, I have thought that the perceived heat from the Sun often increases when a large cloud moves close to obscuring the Sun. I thought about this for a bit and wondered if the clouds were reflecting and effectively 'focusing' the sunlight which would otherwise ( in a clear sky) radiate more widely.

Whatever.. It seems I was correct and I claim my £5.. Apologies if everybody else already knew this stuff.. I didn't. Page 27 nails it...

The Scottish actor, James English, spent seven days and nights sleeping rough in Glasgow last Christmas and filmed his experience for a documentary. Although it's been described as hard-hitting, the occasional use of sentimental music makes it semi-hard-hitting, imo. Apart from this minor detraction, however, it's well worth a watch all the same.
