This thread has taken a bizarre off piste route but as has been mentioned really I think the funeral is not so much about the dead person but rather to help those who are left behind to process their grieving. Having said that I did go to one funeral a couple of years ago for a dear family friend who died from pancreatic cancer and he wrote his own eulogy so that was very much all about him and was also very good fun mainly due to his wit and humility.
