System pics 2012

Tricky question that, ask fox why he sniffs his :D It's strangely addictive too!

Its the wifes addition, as are the candles which also are red and smelly.

Mine presently do, all new glue and formaldehydes and wax and yummy nummy solvents. Still sniffing mine. Mmm. I may progress to licking them soon, see where that takes us. Not so soon after a first date though. God those port holes look inviting.

Mine were supplied with foam bungs to remove temptation (i assume). A trip to confession to get over the desire maybe?

Never mind that filth. I zoomed in on your pics and I saw real filth, rack filth. You want to get a duster and some Mr.Sheen to that lot pronto.?.and have you seen the state of those skirting boards!?

Dec, I've just checked the photos. No dust and if they were I'd have to sack the cleaner, or at least give the young filly stiff one.

That's an interesting proposal. If when we pass this mortal coil, God is sitting there on the door steps to Heaven. He wants to see a portfoilio of your life, what would you show him/her/it at your enterview*?

I'd whistle and wait to see if my dogs bounded over to speak on my behalf.

Bagged myself a Rega P9 and a pair of Audio Note AN-E's (two items I've always lusted after)

The P9 is an older example, which has an RB900. (Albeit a significantly upgraded RB900 with full internal and external Cardas re-wire, foam fill and Michell Tecnoweight, courtesy of Audio Origami).

The AN-E's are DIY and feature professionally made Russian Birch Ply cabinets (as used by Audio Note in their higher end speakers). The drivers are genuine Audio Note whilst the crossovers are made to Audio Note specs. The stands are temporary and will be replaced by genuine Audio Note items once I have the funds.

I shall also be collecting an Audion Silver Night 300B mkII next week to complete the system. (Should work a treat with the E's!)

They were too much for the room. Also, whilst their bass was very extended, I found it to be a bit detached. Like a poorly integrated subwoofer.

Not for me I'm afraid, but worth a try and I didn't lose anything by selling them on :)

It is at 401 level without any doubt, I have both.

I bought it plinthed about five years ago and had a new bearing done about three years ago. I also had it serviced at NW analogue who can also supply bespoke slate plinths like the one on my 401.

The new arm now brings it to the level that it is capable of.

Marco from AOS believes this to be one of the best decks he has heard. I am very happy with it but better judges than I believe that the g99 would compete with modern decks in the 5k range. I assume that opinion is based on a solid plinth like the one I have as the old idler decks need a massy plinth to give their best.

You are welcome to hear it if you are near nw England.

Thanks for the feedback.

Luckily I know someone who runs a successful business refurbishing old Danish furniture and manufacturing licensed furniture. He has kindly offered to build me a plinth according to what I want, so I have to figure out what's best.

Multiple layers of say, 2 different types of solid wood?

There is a lot of experience and experimentation with different plinths on the lenco heaven site, I'm a listener primarily and non technical. The golden rule appears to be heavy and solid. Multi layer plinth are very popular as they work to dispel resonances.

When funds allow, replace or refurbish the bearing and you will have a "major deck" on your hands. Good luck.
