We live opposite a small patch of woodland, in the centre of which is a large natural pond and a place for these local hooligans to hang out. They tend to congregate on our front lawn then, when the time's right, mum escorts her family over there.

Still recognising the theme!

Three years ago I lost my only sibling to a big stroke. Then, two uncles, two cousins, an aunt, two close friends, and then last year my mum and dad passed away. Not a great time, and combined with my hernia and a recent slipped disc. It’s surprising, when looking back, how much you can cope with, but it does affect us long term.
Thankfully, my company and workmates have been simply brilliant throughout.

Luckily or unluckily I am only part of a tiny family - all of whom have issues apart from me (that I know of!) Sounds like you have been through the mill but you always come across as fun and full of life, it's good you had support from workmates and your employer. Mine were ok as well although I did have to take some unpaid leave as my Mum was a bit of a nightmare for several months. Yes it will have an affect but for me it will be about making sure I spend time with the people I want to be with doing the things that I want to do without being too greedy or negatively impacting on others (within reason!) - sounds like a New Years Resolution what could possibly go wrong?!...

My great Dad sadly died last year after spending a few months in hospital, whilst he was in my Mum was diagnosed with dementia and went down hill very quickly - especially without her mate of over 60 years, she is now in a very loving care home and although she is my Mum her personality has mostly gone and in a way she has died as well. They were both great parents and I owe/miss them a lot. They were Twitchers and as my Mum had to go into 24/7 care I had to sell their house and self fund her care from the proceeds, in the process of clearing the house i kept their Bird Bath.

Thw Bird Bath has been very active recently so I set up a Blink Camera yesterday to record what was going on whilst I was out and about. When I came back I had over 50 clips of birds that came to visit their Bird Bath. The quality is not that good, the lens is too wide but I find it very heart warming to watch the birds it's like my parents are saying hello, I know they would have loved it.

I do not know if this works or not but here is a 2 minute (far from perfect) clip of a robin and blue tit taking a summer dip, there was also (but not included in the clip) a pigeon, blackbird, thrush, sparrow and of course starlings...the Robin was the main user though I never knew they were such prolific bathers.

Anyway I am going to bed - work beckons.......goodnight

Nice and familiar. My mum went first, dad 5 months later. She always said she wanted to 'come back' as a Robin. We buried her in one of those 'green' burial places, and when I next visited alone a few days later, there was a Robin singing from the tree above her plot. That flipping bird just followed me back to the car singing away.
That cost me a tissue or two when i got home hahahah.

Very odd but anyway. Your pic brought that back:)
