Thanks. Never thought of this as brutalist though (more modernist?) Pei took inspiration from ancient cliff dwellings. He had them hammer grooves into the concrete to give it texture.

BTW, it was used in Sleeper!

Classic bush-hammered concrete. Brutalist - and wonderful.
(the classic way was/is, to use 'retarder' chemical on the concrete form lining, other than the usu, oil - so that the 'fines' at the surface were/are easy to wash-off to start exposing the aggregate)
