Presumably, but I'm just guessing.I'm no geologist, but.....do I detect iron in this rock?
-Steve
I am a geologist, so yes the rusty-orange colours are due oxidation of iron-bearing minerals in the rock, in the same way that steel rusts. In fact just about all rocks contain some iron, very little in chalk for example, but lots in basalt or serpentinite.Presumably, but I'm just guessing.
