[WTD] Omega watch service.

Hi,
I've seen a few watches for sale here so I thought I'd ask if any fellow PFM's can recommend someone to service my Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow, it's in need of a service and is running slow so I went to the Omega shop in London and was quoted over £800 and a 35 week lead time.
I'm based in the Reading area but travel around England so might be able to drop it in.
Thanks.

Ffs -don't- use EssexWatchCo.. is my main advice. There's a forum called TheWatchForum iirc, which has a dedicated section, peddling many towards this wretched hamfisted & expensive Essex.. chap's services. I gently complained on the site.. & my account frozen in a heartbeat. Dodgy. Avoid.

OTOH..

I think it was The Wam (or pfm) who recommended AWR watch service my way & I was SO pleased. And my '56 Seamaster's ready to send in.. because of excellent comms, quote for a clean, & a few recommended him.

More a vintage omega specialist, afaict.

Watch Guy in Stroud. Excellent service and fast turnaround. They post pictures of your watch being serviced and tested.

They serviced my 1965 Omega Constellation Pie Pan recently.

Another vote for Christian and team. Always use them for my watches. An IWC needed a new winder but IWC refuse to sell parts so I found the part (with their help) posted it to them and all sorted. I post to them with Royal Mail Special Delivery. And they are fast with the service because they only accept your request when they have capacity to do it.
I also love the pictures! Check out my Explorer service:

How easy was it to get booked in with Christian? I got the impression demand for his services rather outstripped supply.

WatchGuy possibly cocked up our Omega watch service, which they said wasn't needing a service once they opened it up and checked it, which was no doubt correct as it had only been done a few years previous, they offered to give it clean for a decent price of £49 which was fine, however first time wearing it the strap came apart at the clasp and it cost £175 to replace the bit that was missing, luckily the watch was ok and the strap failure was noticed immediately or else the watch might have been lost. Now that might have just been bad luck/timing on our part but looking at the clasp after the incident it looked like it had been put together wrong, but having no idea how it was supposed to be put together I can't confirm or deny that, there WAS a part missing that was certain and was confirmed by the Omega dealer in Edinburgh.

Emails to Watchguy following this didn't even get a reply :(

Possibly a one off incident or a faulty strap that was just bad timing, but a reply to my emails would have been nice.

PS: I should add that this was a Ladies Omega Constellation Mini, which after receiving it they realised it was a battery watch and don't service them, they hadn't noticed when I booked it in and I didn't know they didn't do them, but they offered to clean before sending it back.

ORA watches Rose Street Wokingham, had a couple of my watches serviced/repaired there came back as good as new and accurate

Sounds like one of my watchguy experiences. He used to be good, but less so in the last 3 or 4 years. Too many apprentices that are not adequately supervised.

Thanks for this suppose I'll just have to go with my "gut" I suppose.
