Official President Biden Thread

100 days:

1. Asking Americans to wear masks (and making them, where he can)
2. 100 million vaccines in American arms
3. Most US schools open
4. Passing a $1.9 trillion economic relief plan
5. Introducing a new immigration proposal with a pathway to citizenship
6. He's also got a slate of Day One executive orders meant to undo what President Donald Trump has wrought over the past four years, including:
a) Rejoining the Paris climate agreement
b) Nixing Trump's travel ban on mostly-Muslim countries
c) Stopping the Keystone XL pipeline

Etc...

“The President in particular is very much a figurehead — he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it. On those criteria Zaphod Beeblebrox is one of the most successful Presidents the Galaxy has ever had — he has already spent two of his ten presidential years in prison for fraud.”

Biden will be immeasurably better than trump but he will still be an enormous let down for many - beware the false promises folks.

I'm not holding any hope for him being a great president, but even a dull, uninspired career politician is far better than the sociopath that preceded him.

Just seeing him set an example by wearing a mask is IMO a huge step in the right direction.

By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans.

PS Not a spoof, he actually said that! He actually thinks the Paris Climate Accord is about Paris!

Indeed. It's like waking up in a new country. However we've got to keep pressure on the democrats to enact policies that benefit the bottom 80% of Americans, else the fear and hopelessness that allowed Trump to come to power will continue to fester. Also fingers crossed that the supreme court doesn't invalidate the ACA, though I think the democrats might be able to protect it by reinstating the penalty for non-purchase, at some nominal amount like $1.

Just remember that 12 years ago at approximately this time, there was a dinner meeting between Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Eric Kantor, and assorted other top GOP leaders and funders, where it was determined that they would oppose Obama at every turn. I wonder if there has been a similar cabal amongst GOP leaders this time around?

It’s not a spoof, but I’m not sure he does think that. He just thinks that enough voters will believe it for it to be politically worth him saying it. The continuation of Pump by other means.

Fingers crossed it gains the derisive lack of traction it/he deserves.

AO Cortez asks if he thinks the Geneva Convention only covers residents of Geneva ...
