NHS Cancer Staff Funding Petition

Hi All,

I have just received an email from Prostate Cancer UK asking for support. It has around 45000 signatures at time of posting.

Will you stand with us, Simon?

We need to act now to make sure men with prostate cancer get the care they need.

COVID-19 exposed the terrible strain the NHS cancer workforce has been under for years. Without urgent investment, shortages in the workforce are set to get worse. That’s why we’re joining 50 other cancer charities calling on the government to use the Spending Review to prioritise NHS staff who diagnose, treat and care for cancer patients.

Our CEO, Angela Culhane has also signed a letter to government, asking them to deliver on their commitments to improve cancer survival and care in this country. We're making an urgent call on the government to:

  • grow the cancer workforce and invest in equipment to meet patient need and drive innovation to provide better care;
  • level-up on cancer to address socio-economic factors which mean poorer communities are disproportionately affected by cancer.
  • strengthen investment in cancer research and development.

Simon, will you join us and sign the petition today to help make sure men with prostate cancer get the care they need?

Thank you!

A worthy cause , the nhs is at breaking point with staff leaving in droves. The private sector now do more hip and knee ops than the nhs

Sadly without giving student nurses the proper funding and withdrawing this ridiculous bursary scheme they won't attract more staff into nursing .

They have not expanded medical training places and it takes many years to train them

I do hope this petition helps but without stemming the haemorrhage of staff exhausted by covid care it's a forlorn hope

The NHS desperately needs a long term staffing plan. It will need huge investment, but the rewards would be felt over 10-40 years, long after the Government that implemented it was the can down the road.

Signed.

Would-be father-in-law is really suffering with this (mostly mentally, poor bugger) - Signed.

Signed.

But…government can fund this or any other aspect of the NHS if it wishes. It is a political choice not to.

Signed. Miss S works for the NHS and I’m more than aware of staff shortages. We are walking into an absolute disaster. We need a government who are prepared to make decisions for the long-term instead of chasing short-term popularity to buy votes.

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition.

I posted this on another forum but the moderator pulled it as being 'too political':(

Just bouncing this to the top again as many more signatures are needed.

Yes, but we have been trained to think that ‘tax and spend’ is necessary for funding public services and any party proposing tax and spend will monstered by the media and not get anywhere near electability. Chasing short term popularity is the only game in town
