Hi Joe,
Transmission spectroscopy (where you look at the difference in light from the star through the planets atmosphere when it is behind and in front of the star) is very tricky and does not really have the resolution to resolve the complex spectra of organic molecules at this stage of the technology. If you were lucky you might find oxygen (or possibly chlorophyl) signatures which you could then use to infer organic processes. However I am not saying this is what will be announced tomorrow.
