Ah. Well, obviously the real source, ie the recording, is the most important thing. Something that becomes more apparent the better the playback equipment.

I’m thinking, the invention of fire and agriculture, which ultimately led to civilisation and the creation of music, and the industrial revolution which gave us technology and, eventually, the leisure time and disposable income to sit and listen to hifi equipment.
