I am interested to know the number of amps that people own, either an amp in the main system, a combination of several amps in other systems or unused backup amps in storage. It doesn't matter if it's an integrated amp or pre/power.

Personally I own 2 integrated amps and a pre/power. One integrated is frequently used in the main system, the pre/power rarely used and another integrated in storage.

5 integrated amps in use in various rooms. With every upgrade another room gets an old one.

Sonneteer Orton, my favorite, in my music listening room (called guest room by the wife).
Belles Aria 2d favorite for sound, favorite for features. Living Room, main house. Good headphone amp onboard.
Rega Brio R, bedroom
Marantz 8004, like the Belles Aria, has headphone amp, and phono. Rec room, finished basement.
HK, a huge powerful monster with many features in the garage work shop. Because it is so power hungry.

I finally sold my old Onix AO21s last year because no remote. It sounded good but I changed it for the Rega which has remote.

So, most of us have somehow accumulated more then we need or want but can't really be arsed doing much about it.

I'd thought it was just me. This is turning out to be quite the feel good thread.

3 integrated amplifiers:

- B&O Beolab 5000
- Yamaha A-960II
- Yamaha AV-M99

5 preamplifiers:

- Quad 22
- Yamaha C1 (or at least the heavily bodged and completely knackered remains of one)
- Yamaha C-5000
- Yamaha CX-10000
- A mystery home-made item

4 power amplifiers:

- Pair of Quad IIs
- Yamaha AST-A10
- Yamaha M-5000
- Yamaha PC-5002M

depends on how you count amps?

  • New Audio Frontiers super supreme (300b)
  • Roksan Caspian mk1 integrated
  • There is an amp in my Naim Uniqute
  • There is an amp in my Denon CEOL N10
  • A little Virtue Audio - Virtue.One integrated.
  • A topping something - in a cupboard somewhere
  • There is an amp in my JBL bluetooth speaker.

Lucky family members, the Nait 5 is a very nice amp (prefer it to the 1&2 if I’m honest).

Nice vintage Rotel RA-300 in the office, skip rescue 30 years ago.
Crown XTi1000 for the JBLs in the kitchen.
Two NAD C272s, one on the TV for a pair of GR60s the other awaiting connection to the bedroom system with a pair of Missions.
Cambridge Audio A1 for the bathroom on a pair of MA4s.
A pair of Bryston 14B SST2s in the conservatory on BB5is.

If we count other bits 6 in the XTZ subs, one in the MA sub. No idea how many in the car.

Just the three - I'm not greedy!

Meridian 502 pre/557 power in the main system.
A Denon receiver in the kitchen.

I do have a hankering for a JDM Denon PMA-SX11 - one of their super intergrated amps. I expect one of those would outlast me quite easily.
So maybe a 4 amp household, at most : )

I forgot to add, an Arcam A65 plus in the office (wife WFH and never uses it):rolleyes:

I should really use it.

it is a very good amp… drives the Ovator S400s I lent to my sister quite happily. Once I have recapped the Nait 2 and the 5s I look forward to doing a side by side comparison.

Main system : Meridian 561/555 or Lecson AC1/AP1 plus Velodyne active sub bass
Office : Tannoy Active so 2 amps per box
Work PA : 2 x QSC1602 pro amps with other amps in 2 x active sub bass

- Yamaha C1 (or at least the heavily bodged and completely knackered remains of one)
That is one preamplifier with more knobs and buttons than a small aircraft. It's worth the shelf space just to display its awesomeness, going or not.

Since everyone seems to be counting pre-amps updated my vote to more than 5 as I have

NAC12
NAC32
NAC62

in addition to the 5 NAPs

1. Nait 2 (recapped) in office system @home.
2. Nait 2 (non-recapped) in office system @office.
3. Densen DM20+DM30 in storage/spare/for reference.
4. Townshend Allegri + Aaron 3.0 Power in main system.
