Not sure human beings work that way when money is involved. As a species we still seem intent on extracting every last atom of fossil fuel from the ground even though we know it will render likely our planet uninhabitable.

Uninhabitable for us. Despite the sorry state of Mars, I’m sure the earth will restore itself over time. Because of our flaws we will just be a brief footnote in the planets history. Gaia and all that.

I am seeing a lot of crypto adverts. I suspect some holders are urgently trying to find greater fools

I moved to a new team at work about 6 months ago who were keen on cryptocurrency. They were always going on about how much they had made that morning etc and I must say I felt some pressure to join in but first I sought the view of our eldest who is a Chartered FA. His words were very similar to yours and he said because of that it is just like gambling on red or black at the casino.

I am sure there are people buying those Put options Michael Burry style for precisely that reason. Although when you do have a position nominally worth several billion good luck getting the money off the sketchycoin.com exchange and/or your counterparties.
