As requested by Barrymagrec.
Most amateur players at the weekend play 50 over league club cricket (+ or - a few overs). It is usually where future County Players start. So, most understand that length of game.Of course nothing is better than a good Test Match.
But watching (or even more important playing) cricket is a minority interest that has been reducing for decades.
The survival of the game in any shape or form depends on limited over.
Personally I find 50 Over has just enough connection to real cricket to reveal talent and tactics.

My thoughts are exactly the opposite but oranges are not the only fruit.I have just enough patience to watch a T20 match. I don't know how anyone follows a 5-day test match.
It's been on TNT. I don't know yet who has the highlightsEngland 225/8 so far. Is there no BBC coverage of the test match vs India? Surprised not to see an evening recap on the schedule.
