Christmas Albums That You Spin? The Festive Season Ear Treats

My parents used to have the Swingalongs Christmas LP in their K-Tel Record Selector in the early 70s:-

I found a copy of this superb LP in my local British Heart Foundation last year for 50p...

...of course I had to buy it. Kindly I made a 24-48 vinyl rip for my parents (who had binned their original LP years ago).

As a five year old in 1972 - I couldn't stomach the fact that the lad on the sleeve got the official Palitoy Action Man tank...

...whereas my father bought a cheap knock off tank from Leicester market for me.

Nice to see that in those unwoke days the girl gets a dolly...

...while the boy gets a cowboy outfit and the very robot boxing game I craved (but never got).

Of course these days the girl is more likely to receive a replica AK47 assault rifle...

...while the modern gender fluid boy is delighted to get a pink tea set.

The gollywog is a most delightful period touch also!

Back in 1972 there is no way my father would have commited to the huge financial undertaking involved in me receiving two "big" presents:-

"You can have anything you want from the Argos catalogue toy section...

...provided the total value does not exceed £10"

Sadly this of course ruled out such luxury items as the Chuck Norris Tin Can Alley rifle target practice game, Atari console and TCR slot racing set.

Funny Looking Angels album by Smith and Burrows.

The YouTube is the wonderful This Ain’t New Jersey.

It is played on repeat.
