Both were done by Qualiaphysic.

Without the mods the CXC's sound quality was better than the 8200CD was as a transport but below what I had with a fanless SSD NetBook via USB Asynchronous.
Now the difference is too small for me to notice and that's truly important for me as I don't fancy ripping all my CDs to flac.

Interesting thread..
by chance- did anyone have the opportunity to compare a CXC against a Karik3
on the same DAC ?

PS: No SACD possible I read...that would be a massive shame as some of my most favourite music is on SACD.
