Can openers.

Can anyone recommend a decent can opener? In the olden days, before the EU and the fall of the Iron Curtain, they would last for decades, now they fall apart after about six weeks. The last decent one I had was made in the DDR but you can't seem to get them anymore. Are there sturdy alternatives to the current Chinese crap?

I use the can opener on Victorinox pocket knives. Simple, always reliable, and right at hand if your knife is. With practice you can open cans quickly and neatly.
I’ve been using one of these for decades.

Ahh, the P-38. Another good opener, I hear. Fits in your wallet.

We've had one for about 40 years that has never failed. Can't post a picture, but I've found an identical one called Westmark Columbus. You just bang the blade in and "walk" it around the edge. It is the tin-opening equivalent of the simple corkscrew.
