I have a standard Node 2i, and two modified with power board/supply upgrades, one running into a Topping D90 DAC, the other into a D90SE (MQA DAC).
Power upgrades made a huge difference, even with audio into a DAC.
The DAC in the Node2i itself is a weak spot.
The sound is excellent now (with Tidal HIFI VIA Bluesound app), blows CD out of the water…..and I have a nice CD player.
If I use airplay to send music to the Node2i, the sound is noticeably degraded over playing natively.
