Yebbut, we'll be selling that on via our new trade deal with North Korea. No coal burnt here guv.

Stephen

Very environmentally friendly not to burn it here, let others do the burning (for us) and we'll look pretty in that photo op...

I saw the very same, ‘Build Back Better’ logo on the backdrop when Joe Biden was on the Democratic campaign trail yesterday evening...

What is going on?
Biden had it first, been using it as slogan for economic plan. Compare to UN 2015 enviromental conference slogan, Building Back Better.

It’s Tory Party Conference season and the Bullingdon bullshit thesaurus is up on its hind legs again. This week’s three word soundbite is ‘Build Back Better’, which probably means ‘Bilderberg Backs Better’.

Or 'Boris' Brexit Bonus'. Well, it'll be a bonus for him & his mates. For us, I suspect, not so much.

As John Crace said, the only PM to call Human rights lawyers enemies of the people.

And the reality about Johnson’s wind plans.

I was kind of joking that these would be built by the same Tory donating charlatans that they syphon money to now, but yes, that’s the plan. Get ready for companies who actually make turbines to lose out to Wetherspoons. That’s if there are any tenders anyhow. They won’t be obligatory after we leave the EU.

We got the double whammy of 'A new Jerusalem' and a recovery like the one after World War II. Does anyone know how the Tories faired after the war? :)

It's strategic. Starmer was a human rights lawyer.

Just when we have the existential crises of global warming and pandemic, these two donkey riders of the apocalypse show up at the same time. Now, is that bad timing or what?

can you just imagine?

Johnson/Cummings' fantasist vision put into some perspective here.

UK 'will take 700 years' to reach low-carbon heating under current plans

Someone has told them we can just replace gas with hydrogen. Job done.

But why should they care? The press just report it uncritically on the day and the industry and charities say "if he means it it'll be great" (hint: he doesn't) and he'll be gone by the time none of this comes to pass.

We have to find a way to make politicians take some responsibility for their lies and failures. Get them to put a proper funded plan in action rather than spout fantasies.

Taking Johnson seriously about his 'vision' is laughable.

Suddenly I am gobsmacked by the obvious. 'Holding responsible' should be part of the system.. There should definitely be a formal 'inspect and evaluate' process at the end of tenure for chief public executives, with the power to reward or punish, a little or a lot. Obviously needs to be fair, rational, objective. Not obvious just how to set it up. But we need this.

Fat chance of that when there's a revolving door between political journalists and the Conservative Party.

Speaking of which, it looks like Boris Johnson has found his press secretary:

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-stratton-to-be-boris-johnsons-tv-spokeswoman

It's a great choice. Allegra Stratton has been holding the poor and the vulnerable to account throughout her career:

Some background on the above interview from Private Eye:

It's also been pointed out that Allegra Stratton, is married to James Forsyth, the political editor of the Spectator, who works alongside the commissioning editor who is married to Dominic Cummings, who is the chief adviser to Boris Johnson. Small world.

So, why are (Conservative) politicians not held to account for their lies and failures? It's a complete mystery.

Gove’s wife is also a journalist.

The right own the media and absolute political and economic power.

Yet they still want more. They are always on the TV, Radio and in print complaining their views are being ‘shut down’.
