[Spitballing a few thoughts on @jackbarron’s post)

There is a point in any dirtbag leftist’s slow arc where they become indivisible from far right because they find kinship in each other’s attitudes & methods of cruelty: note you don’t find the right migrating left — thats how the right works. It appeals.

If Labour continues to go right of centre in order to appeal to Tory votes, then what are they really? They fail to rein-in the gammonite racists so the only alternative is divesting oneself of “both sides” & exploring radical alternatives: Ancom, ANTIFA, Marxism (as a gateway to utopian anarchism) & so on, it’s a phenomenon all of my younger friends are gravitating towards because Labour has nothing to offer young socialists — even the old bourses du travail folk & Paris commune-informed collectives are making a resurgence — thousands of tiny splinter groups cropping up. I think this time, what with the pressures of capitalism & nothing but a bleak future, self reliant & global revolutionary groups may continue to grow, I do hope so. These angry, pissed off kids offer me more hope than anything anyone else has to say.

The labour party’s move away from socialism & hostility towards intersectionalists-informed youth, trans & LGBT and feminists being sidelined by racism, sexism, homophobia & transphobia at all levels of the current Labour party make a lot of queer young radicals (typically historically welcomed by revolutionary socialists in the past) feel unwelcome & unable to politically function — which is why a lot of us unhappy with Labour have been radicalised by Marxist, AnCom & Antifascist discourse. It feels like Labour is no longer a socialist party, it’s now more of a neoliberal club for non-conservative gammon chauvinistas. I’ve personally been radicalised by seeing how Labour offers nothing to counter Tory misrule for people far worse off than me.

Brian likes to do that Invasion of the Bodysnatchers* thing he does with anyone who didn’t vote for Labour and call them “Tory enablers”. I think that’s… an opinion… but in all honesty Labour are these days just neoliberals, miles away from socialism & enabling that is just plain nasty, possibly toxic. Tories are open about how rapaciously shitty they are, it need racism & xenophobia & culture wars to “other” marginalised people in order to function & they now come from the gammonite ranks of Labour — especially now you “got brexit dun”. New Labour/Next-Labour & so on are just disingenuous & slippery with no room for intersectionalists or socialists. I don’t even think they stand for anything revolutionary like the global emancipation of the workforce anymore.

Claire's rant may appeal to about 11 people in Brighton but the real issue is we need a new electorate. This one's been broken by a lifetime of propaganda from pond life scum tories and other brexity gammon media.
Unfortunately "the people" when taken as a whole, are pig shit thick and worse still xenophobic, racist, greedy, selfish etc. The right wing media encourage this and do their best to drag us back into the primordial swamp.
The ONLY possibility for a better future is is to reverse the process by reeducating them... drag them towards the light of civilisation and and away from the dark of "dog eat dog", "survival of the fittest" and "I'm alright Jack, **** you" that the lower than vermin tories preach. The people need to realise that there is such thing as society and that it outweighs the individual.

That probably won’t happen until society starts working for them, too, unfortunately.

Regrettably, we’re living through the old Irish joke: “if you want to get there, I wouldn’t start from here.”

Wrong, but no surprise.

gammonite :D

Spot on Claire. I agree with you.

"Reeducating them”, “Dragging toward the light of civilization”... yikes... Some real high-octane “conversion therapy” energy hours emanating from this one.

Which is why I condone extreme measures to put things right. The alternative of just accepting the status quo is unthinkable. "not stooping to their level" guarantee's their victory. The scum got where they are by propaganda, lies, threats to peoples livelihoods, controlling the media etc and we need to be better at it than them. This is where the chattering classes champagne socialists get it so spectacularly wrong. The enemy should be scared of us.... not in awe of our avocado and tomato salad! We need Che Guevara not Grayson Perry!

Leave Labour to die the death of neoliberal obscurity it’s currently hell bent on achieving.

Maybe they could rebrand without that difficult “Labour” word... maybe something something “social” something something “democrat”.

!We need Che Guevara not Grayson Perry!

Gosh, agreed, yes that’s really compelling. Che Guevara really shows the Tories you have your finger right on the pulse of the people. Tell you what you keep doing what you’re doing, and I won’t get in your way. Labour is irredeemably toxic. You be you & so on... etc.

Back in the real world, Labour needs to identify what the electorate wants for them to vote labour if they wish to be in government. The alternative is to continue on their present course being undermined by Corbyn and union pals, which will delight the Tories.

Meanwhile another Tory govt is elected in 2024. Any excuse to help them will do.

Laughable.

You're part of the problem rather than the cure.... sort the world out for 5 anarcho syndicalist punk poet transgender people and the world is your oyster I presume? The public just love identity politics and if it's for a minority making up maybe 0.001% of the population you'll have them eating out of your hand:rolleyes: It's what "the man on the Clapham omnibus" losses the most sleep over obvs. "Power to the people foxxy!" And you'll have about as much luck as the Tooting Popular Front....

Like it or not, the only realistic alternative to the Tory hegemony at the moment is Labour. Just like Biden is where it’s at if you want to oust Trump and the GOP. So it’s holding your nose time for those who don’t cleave to Labour’s side.

Then, and only then, can you afford the luxury of trying to form a new party.

Voting labour is a vote for neoliberal and right of centre politics — just not going to happen. I don’t vote for Neolibs even when they are in the Labour Party.

I like how this sort of thing kind of proves my point about how toxic Labour supporters are. I swear I didn’t even set you up with known red rags. Thank you comrade.
