Mystery Leak Troughline III with internal stereo decoder

Oooh, was that the early music festival? I forgot about that - was it good, should I catch up with it?

Mystery Leak Troughline III with internal stereo decoder

Well there’s not much love for the poor old Troughline here is there! I’d posted this hoping for a little help in identifying what I thought was a fun little curiosity, but thanks for reminding me that this hobby isn’t meant to be fun. Foolishly, in my time away from all things audiophile, I’d...

Mystery Leak Troughline III with internal stereo decoder

Yeah, I think I'd assumed someone had just popped an internal decoder card in the case and hooked it up to the multiplex line internally. It was only when I opened it up I realised the extent of the mods. When you A-B it against a stock Troughline, it's had an awful lot of work.

Mystery Leak Troughline III with internal stereo decoder

So I’ve owned this Troughline for at least six years and, during that time (and for a variety of reasons I won't bore anyone with) all it’s done is sit on a shelf and look pretty. I finally got around to setting it up for a listen a week ago and it sounds amazing. It's not like I haven't heard...

    Loricraft website No longer available.

I'd be really interested to find out what he says. I have one of their older PSUs and had been thinking of getting in touch re getting it serviced.

    E-Mail Program for Mac OSX

Yeah, apparently Microsoft's Office development team is hated, even within Microsoft.

    E-Mail Program for Mac OSX

Hmm, that's definitely more severe than anything I've encountered in 30 years of working with Macs. The only time I've had anything like that happen was when the company I was working for installed some wacky filtering software on their mail server that removed every image and garbled every doc...

    E-Mail Program for Mac OSX

If the issue is with attachments, why not just zip them before sending? Every Windows machine available will be able to unzip them as it's part of the OS, and it stops Outlook for mistaking the files for inline images. For what it's worth, as far as I understand it, Apple don't consider this to...

Connecting Mac Book Pro to a TV using HDMI

Yes. Once you've got your mini displayport to HDMI adaptor, that's where you plug it in.

Connecting Mac Book Pro to a TV using HDMI

If you click on the Apple icon in the menu bar at top left, and select 'about this mac' – then 'more info…' It'll give you the year info for your Mac (i.e. Late 2011). That's all you need to identify your Mac.

Connecting Mac Book Pro to a TV using HDMI

Thunderbolt's a data interface, like USB or Firewire, only more modern and much, much faster. Thunderbolt and mini DisplayPort use the same socket, but they have different names because they carry different things (data and audio/video respectively). All of which is more info than you really...

Connecting Mac Book Pro to a TV using HDMI

All MacBook Pros from mid 2010 on have Thunderbolt. Just to be clear though, mini displayport and thunderbolt use the same socket on the Mac. So in the context of audio/video connectivity, it makes no difference whether a Mac is equipped for Thundebolt or not. In either case you need the same...

Connecting Mac Book Pro to a TV using HDMI

Your Mac has a mini displayport socket for external monitors. That means you can either get a mini displayport to HDMI cable, or a mini displayport to HDMI adaptor plus a regular HDMI cable to go from that to the TV. You can see the choices on Apple's store...
