That’s interesting. I think I was using a basic phono stage at the time which didn’t allow for different capacitance. Might give it another go as I can adjust with my current stage.
I have a SME 3009 Series II Improved on an Ariston RD11 and went through a similar journey to you a few years ago. The turntable came without a cartridge and I stuck on the first spare cartridge I had lying around, which was a Nagaoka MP 11 Boron. I had no idea about compliance at this stage...
I’ve got an Eloquence 250i. Totally agree with Killie99, fantastic build quality and great sound. The power should also be mentioned, they tend to understate the power of their amps so the Hi-fi News lab found it actually delivers 420W into 8 ohms.
I really rate them. I am using with a Leak Stereo 20 and Townsend Allegri Plus. The top end and mid range are fantastic, you can really hear nuances in vocals that many speakers miss. The sound staging is amazing too. For their current cost, I think they are a bargain.
I’m pleased with these for a first effort at making my own. Cost me less than £20 as I had the wood left over from our kitchen tops and a spare length of plastic piping in the garage. Only parts I bought were the spikes, a threaded rod and 4 nuts and bolts. Sealed the pipes with silicon and...
Thanks, Speedframe does look like a good solution and certainly has an authentic 1970’s look. Stockist here: https://www.richardsonsuk.co.uk/Aluminium-Tubes/p47?gclid=Cj0KCQiAnaeNBhCUARIsABEee8WpouwayFaWxB7wQQ33JIlEdA90bCcuyxRwcqbWV_RKRyVd7AsUz8QaAtrOEALw_wcB
I should be finishing my stands...
I have decided to try making my own using this design, https://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/stubby_e.html. Should be ready next week. I had the same misgivings with the size of the Atacama SLX’s top plates, at least this way I can build them exactly to the 104s’ dimensions. I also scoured eBay...
Just picked a pair of these up and now looking for suitable stands. The atacama slx and auditions are way more than I paid for the speakers, so not viable. Wondered what the original stands would have been and what other people are using? For example, Do people rate the AVF adjustable stands...
I am using the 2i as a streamer to a Rega DACR. I also bought the Polish psu interface upgrade and then an s booster BOTW external power supply. There was a massive thread on this in the WAM, and the Sbooster was the recommended upgrade. Don't know how it compares to the Teddy Pardo.
