No sweat at all. At my usual listening volume, the indicator very rarely go pass 5% - or around 2.5w of the rated maximum power of 50w at 8 ohms.

My experience is that although the RPI is a very good streaming device, the DAC hats are so so in quality. A good quality external DAC would offer very noticeable improvements.

I will probably change the rack equipment ordering a bit when i get a chance. Been lazy and the Accuphase is so heavy...

The Accuphase is now on my quadraspire rack, right at then bottom. You can see it in my picture. :)

Exactly. Many here buy a cheap Chinese product and expect it to perform or have the same durability as the much more expensive UK equivalent. Sorry but there is no free lunch.

Thanks. I thought about that. But unfortunately the Accuphase is very deep and doesn’t fit on the cabinet.

So far I like it. But still early days. I did demo the e480 against the e800 before deciding on the later, as to me the class A amp does sound rather special with the right music which is unmatched by the e480 or my Naim system. However I don’t think the e800 is as versatile.

I had the s400 for a couple of years, first with just a Uniti, then with a SN2 and finally added a 250DR. I thought the biggest improvement was with the SN2, which really transformed the speakers.

My little set up. Source is a RPi4 running RopieeXL into a SMSL Su9 Dac. Two sets of amps - Naim 72/HC/140 and a Accuphase E-800. Speakers are Kudos 606s.

For me the Accuphase sound / presentation is very different to everything else I have owned (which was mainly Naim and Devialet) previously. The E-800 has a very delicate, nuanced and yet intense sound. And it took me a while to start to appreciate that. The Accuphase sound doesn’t grab you...
