TT Pops when record held near it.

I have a Knosti Disco Cleaning thing and have just ordered some L'art Du Son cleaning fluid as the Knosti stuff leaves a residue on the record that clogs the stylus.

TT Pops when record held near it.

Well Cheers Guys, as you suggested problem now solved. Turns out I needed to rub down the area with a bit of sand paper on the subchassis, around where the earth interconnecting lead was bolted to expose some bare metal. No pops now when placing or removing a record on the turntable...

TT Pops when record held near it.

Okay, sounds like a possibility. I upgraded the arm board stand offs to the latest decoupled ones. I did reconnect the earth strap but maybe I haven't actually made a good connection between the two. Will pull the thing apart again and check:( I have a multimeter so can check continuity.

TT Pops when record held near it.

Hi, Hope someone can offer some advice on an issue I have with my new turntable setup. I have recently bought a second hand Orbe SE mKII and added an Origin Live Illustrious Tonearm, AT-Art9 cartridge and Tricord Dino Mk3 Phono Stage. I spent some time setting it up and so far it sounds...

Is there any hifi merit in surround sound amps?

I have been using an Audiolab 8002AP as my AV surround processor and pre-amp for my stereo sources. This is a great AV processor which has a direct mode for stereo inputs so doesn't go through any form of processing. My Power end is driven by Linn Akurate 4200 for front speakers Bi-amped...

Excellent Service from Mark Grant Cables

I recently bought a 5.1 channel set of G1000HD cables from Mark Grant which had a Bi-amp pair for the front speakers as I was using a 7 channel amp. The bi-amp pair was basically 2 cables into one phono at one end. Anyway to cut a long story short I don't need the bi-amp cables anymore so...

    Extra long Interconnects

Well I think this is looking promising then. I have used this stuff before to good effect in a 3 meter interconnect in a semi balanced config. I.e. the braid and return wire connected at 1 end. http://www.maplin.co.uk/high-grade-audio-cable-26923 Slightly more expensive than the other...

    Extra long Interconnects

What would be preferable. Long interconnects or speaker cables? I could put the Main front L/R power amps with the pre in the opposite corner as well meaning the speaker cables will be about 10 mtrs.

    Extra long Interconnects

Don't have any snake oil though to turn them into £££ cables:p

    Extra long Interconnects

Think I might have a role of that stuff lying around in the garage so could give it a try. Need to by the pre first but could run an experiment with the AV amp.:)

    Extra long Interconnects

Diamonds and fur coats are out I think.:( Slapping with a wet fish sounds good:p I went with AKurate Kontrol because of inbuilt phono. So don't know what impedance would be for that but easy to find out I imagine. I don't think what I am doing is complicated, I've had the same...

    Extra long Interconnects

Since moving house a few months ago my Gyrodeck has remained dismantled in its box. I would obviously like to get it back into action but the other half has seized on the opportunity to veto my plans and claims where I plan to put the Gyro would look stupid:rolleyes: She has said that the...

Using Nait XS or other Naim amp with AV bypass - anyone tried it?

As JonR says you hopefully will have pre-outs from your AV amp. You would connect the outputs labelled Pre -outs L & R (if not an AV2) and enable AV mode. Then when watching films select this input on your naim and use the AV amp to control everything. When listening to stereo i.e. CD you...

Using Nait XS or other Naim amp with AV bypass - anyone tried it?

Yep, as James says. It bypasses the pre stage and passes the av amp direct line level to the power amp stage of your s tereo system which is your normal stereo front speakers. The volume on the Naim amp would not then be able to control the output via this input. Instead it is controlled by...

    Linn Forum

Not sure I see the point of the new DSM product with HDMI inputs, loads of digital inputs but no multi channel out:confused: Whats that all about. Why would I plug my blue ray HDMI into an amp that isn't going to give me that glorious DTS Master audio. Am I missing something?
