Astounding sounding piece of plastic, so much better than any CD of it I've heard. I also have a first UK press of the first Montrose album which also sounds staggering. Ted Templeman was on a roll round about then.

The soundtrack is heaps better than the film, which lost a ton of money I think.This is often rated as Waits' weakest record but I've always really liked it. Apparently Coppola wanted Rickie Lee Jones to be the female vocal but she refused as she and Waits had just split up. I'd have loved to hear that but Crystal Gayle does a fine job, especially on her solo tracks - Old Boyfriends is beautiful
