The Car cleaning section , Please join in

I now use CarPro Perl for most of the black stuff on the car, including the tyres.
Can be diluted easily, just dont go mad with how much you put on, and spread well, especially the tyres.
Does not 'sling' if applied correctly.
The 303 stuff is really good, I agree, but switched to the 'Perl" and decided to run with it
Love the car air blowers, stops all those runs round windows and mirrors when drying.
If the car has a ceramic coating, they can almost be used to do the entire car.
Fantastic for finishing of wheels as well, stops all thise pesky water marks.
Engine bays look really good when this clean eh.
When are you going to get the 'self righting' BMW wheel centres, will help with the OCD ;-)

Noooo... They don't help OCD at all :D when you stop they self right. But they're not pointing to the M Badge or the M valve cap...

They're all in line currently and that's how they're staying haha

OK, try white spirit.

White spirit worked although I made it a bit sloppy , ended up using a fork to smash it up then the back of a spoon to spread it about , Now back in the jar , See what happens when I try cleaning some chrome with it.

I Washed It:
On the way home, picked up my filthy Pfünfer with the small v8 from MOT (all good, and a few elective things done by my most excellent local independent specialist while he had it.)
...
The Leaf is an efficient, quiet, smooth, effortless thing! I like it!
The other ... makes me smile and want to drive it for pleasure.

After werk today, the old Pfünfer warhorse scrubbed-up well!
- ready to romp Away, early tomorrow...

Blast the caked-on mud off with a pressure washer, sponge down with hot water and washing up liquid, rinse with the pressure washer, chamois dry and a bit of bumper care on the wipers etc.. When I can be arsed, anyway.

However, some bloke at work told me I shouldn’t be using fairy liquid.

Is this true? What should I be using instead?

Fairy liquid will be OK - urban myth about the 'salt' in it.
As above though, their are way preferable products out there, depending on how much you want to look after the paintwork.
A chamois is doing in no favours at all, but it does dry it and help stop water spots.

What’s wrong with a chamois?

Had my car washed the other day at Hatfield big Tesco and they did an excellent job removing sycamore resin and 800 high speed miles worth of flying insects.

they are pretty good there. We are about 5 mins away from home

Take my work truck to them every two or three years; worth it just to see their faces!

Calm down a bit when they realise my budget is more than a tenner.

Cement on car paintwork

It looks like the front of my car has been splattered with cement and has baked on in the heat.

The normal hand wash or even high pressure carwash won’t move it.

Any recommendations please?

Not quite 'detailing' as the car exterior is absolutely filthy (dusty as hell); I haven't driven the car since a few weeks before my op on 10th May and finally got out in it today!

So, an update...

Ordered all this trim over the last few weeks or so; a few bits brand new, the rest 2nd hand/used but immaculate. ALL OEM BMW, no copies/aftermarket etc

I'll fit the pedals when I'm feeling better and up for some footwell gymnastics as there's a bit of drilling to be done etc

Will update ASAP when I've fitted the pedals etc

The car will probably get detailed this weekend if I've the energy

@hifilover1979 Dan nice.

You "made" me do this :p

I'm slowly getting back on my feet and doing things. My car's have not been washed for quited some time, so each hit with Bilt Hammer Snow foam (still yet to be convinced by it), pressure washed then standard shampoo/mitt wash and dry. Nothing fancy.

One done each day as that's my current limit but they will get a proper detail soon.

Good stuff Anil, glad you are getting back on your feet. You are wise to pace it, do one job at a time then take the rest of the day off and see how you feel. It takes a while to know when you can increase the frequency.

Good job well done there pal; you must be a sucker for punishment. 3 dark cars; that'd be my swirled nightmare o_O

I know what you're saying re the BH snowfoam; but I've now learned that it's about the best I've used.

The Touchless isn't as good as the Autofoam; but it's great for quick washes or contactless washes over winter etc

I'll get the cars done this weekend too; like you it'll be one at a time and if I'm knackered after, then the other can wait etc

First visit to this thread!

I had an annoying mark from a careless mechanic on the paintwork of my Yeti that has been there for years - today whilst hunting for something else under the kitchen sink I found some T-Cut. Much to my amazement, the annoying mark has completely disappeared. Amazeballs. This has been bothering me for yonks.

Then I used the silicone based furniture polish that I was hunting for in the first place on a bit of plastic bodywork, came up a beauty!

Also, last week I took the Yeti to an Arc car wash - before the wash I sprayed some Mercedes brand alloy wheel cleaner on the alloys - came up a treat.
(a bag of Mercedes cleaning stuff came with the Father-in-Laws last car - he doesn’t need it now - dementia has robbed him)

Didn’t think to take photos. Bum.
