A lot of folks rock out with DeVore speakers including the designer. Any half decent speaker can do any genre within reason. I have listened to AC/DC with my Harbeth P3’s without a sub. Small room at night and everything was perfect. If pressurizing an auditorium is your thing none of these speakers will do. In an average domestic space DeVore’s do quite well. Chamber music is my thing along with just about every other kind of music.Ok that's not too bad! Slightly worried about comments re not being able to rock out. Chamber music is not my thang!
Great with acoustic / jazz, Not the best choice for Dub / Edm / Metal
I’ve got a dealer right near by and have heard most of the DeVore line over the years. I really liked the little 3xl very much and wish I owned a pair. I liked the original Silverback as well and am sure I’d like the replacement. Perhaps oddly, I think I prefer his more conventional designs to the Orangutan line. I may not have heard enough of them. They are also fairly large, particularly the o96. As someone said they have lovely cabinet grade finishes as well.Hello,
I start this thread as a thread for everything about DeVore audio because IMO this brand and especially its so likeable designer deserves it.
Here is a great video:

I've been following DeVore's progress a fair bit although I've never even heard his speakers. He seems to be a great guy who focuses on music when designing his speakers (this may sound like a truism but a lot of expensive equipment out there sounds like they have been designed for other purposes rather than reproducing music faithfully).
Here are some writeups on his early days, back when he still had hair. He used to host listening sessions at his Brooklyn yard premises called 'Monkeyhaus'. Seems like great fun.

It wasn't my intention to insinuate something different. I was only pointing out that it isn't for sale in Germany, only on a German website.Sounds legit...
As @Old Shatterhand kindly pointed out, while the pair in Germany may be sketchy I'd expect to pay around $2,000 for a nice used pair of Super 8s.
