The Pink Panther. Any soundtracks by Henry Mancini are generally rather good. Most movies with Peter Sellers are generally awful (excepting Dr. Strangelove, Lolita and Being There) - sorry I've never gotten his shtick.

I would say it's between that and TMP.

But as an example of where the score outranks the movie, TFF is preeminent owing to the utterly execrable film in most other respects.

The Courier – An Irish film from 1988 that I admit I never saw, but it would have to be pretty amazing to be better than the soundtrack, which introduced me to artists I'd probably never have heard otherwise. Side 2 is all incidental music by one Declan MacManus.

Thief: A really good Michael Mann movie, Caan on excellent form, Tuesday Weld, Robert Prosky and Willie Nelson all adding to the experience. Cinematography that’s top notch too.
