Well, 181cm is fairly tall. And remember that muscles are heavier than fat, so after your wonderful exercise programme you have lost much more fat than the figures (no pun intended!) alone suggest. In the sense that you might weigh, for example, 15 kilos less, but this will be minus 20 kilos of fat and plus 5 kilos of muscles.

Mr Consistency hits another week. Well done. Actually it's a bit more than most weeks, have you changed anything?

No, today is probably slightly artificially down as we were so knackered yesterday we skipped tea and just had a plate of cheese and crackers! I was 125.3kg yesterday.

Thought so, Mr Consistency. That would put you on your usual 0.6kg. The difference is probably only water. Bear in mind a mug of tea is 0.2 kg. A pee is 0.3-0.4L.

Definitely. The odd thing is that I’m still seriously overweight, so I’m looking forward to getting somewhere near normal, as for me that will be anything but!

The journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step. You have a way to go but every week takes you closer to a healthy weight and being able to do more with your life.

I've been there and it's an odd feeling, knowing you've lost a lot of weight but still having a long way to go.

We're going back many years now but I remember trying to draw inspiration from other things than just how I looked and what the scales said- so clothes feeling loose, belts needing another notch, feeling more flexible and agile etc. stuff like that.

It also helped that I had clothes stashed away in many sizes, jeans in every size from 32" to 38", so every now and again I'd dig out the next size down and see if I could get in them.

If I'd just judged it on body image alone then it would have been a struggle.

At this rate you'll be down to a "normal" size as you call it soon enough, don't fret it.

I have every trouser size from 34” to 48”. Of course, this means my fashion currency will regress over the months.

Actually, being a comfort slob, during lockdown I’ve only really worn trackies. I’ll maybe dig out some pairs later and see which decade I’ve got to.

I found it really therapeutic to chuck out/sell/car boot all the stuff that was now too big for me. It also meant it was harder to go back, I couldn’t then let it slide and slip back into the bigger sizes. Well done, you’re doing brilliant.

Well, not a great week, effectively no change. I’ve corrected last Saturday as I was 125.3 on the Friday and Sunday, per comment last week - just to make me feel better!

Anyway, onwards and downwards!

As you’ve probably gathered by now, progress isn’t linear so I wouldn’t read a single thing into any individual weekly result, and keep doing what you’re doing.

Are you still doing the rowing?

My fitness regime has stalled a bit because of tendonitis in my right elbow. Before that I was managing 1 leg extended back lever holds. Now mainly mobility and core work.

Mostly walking at the moment. I damaged my knee many years ago, which aches if overused, and I’m hoping it will complain less as it has less weight to bear. Rowing will also be more appealing than a walk on colder, darker, wetter days!
