Jaguar F Type

Mick. My wife had an SLK and loved it. If you need more space I suggest Mrs Mick looks at a BMW 3 series or the Audi A4 (and both have diesel options for your long trips to Spain).

They stopped making the A4 cab a while ago, it's now the A5.

Mrs Mick is now becoming convinced that a soft top is the way to go.

The Boxster and the BMW 118i are now taking her fancy.

So here is the latest question - has anyone driven a soft top and would you buy another.

I must admit, the car that I looked at this afternoon had a soft top which gave a lot more room in the boot and it was certainly a substantial material, much heavier and more thief proof than I expected.

I confess to not being a fast driver and I never exceed speed limits so I am unlikely to roll the car over.

Regards

Mick
Had lots of ragtops in the past inc 2 Jags, BMW and 2 TVR's. All of those bought new.

Got a new ragtop a few weeks back. Absolutely love it, hood up or down. The hood can be lowered or raised in 11 Seconds, at the touch of a button, at speeds up to 30 mph. You can also raise or lower the hood from the keyfob.

It's far quieter than expected, no scuttle shake, handles well enough to please mortals, extremely comfortable and is extremely well equipped. Plenty of boot space with hood up, not so good when down. The only downer is poor radio reception on FM. DAB works well and (believe it or not) sounds good.

Did over 45 mpg at a steady 9x plus mph on a trip to Nottingham for the Ashes recently. More than quick enough for any normal person. F type it is not, nor is it a Porker.

Would I recommend a raggie? Definitely.

Morgan then or are they too uncomfortable?
Don't be daft. It's a vintage car with modern running gear, but it still has a wooden chassis with all that entails in upkeep and eventual restoration, and the front suspension needs fettling by a specialist every couple of years. File under "enthusiasts only", and reserve it for people who are prepared to put up with poor ride and handling, leaks, draughts, and the like. Great fun on a sunny day, but so is a bicycle and I wouldn't take either on the M1.

are you going to tell us what it is?

Mick doesn't want a car. He wants a thread about Mick.

This is the dumb, thick skulled type of comment that is killing off decent topics in this forum.

I have just returned from a good night out only to be confronted with juvenile drivel like this.

In order to keep our resident bitch happy, I will pull out from this thread, so it's not about me anymore.

So Debby darling, you can take over.

Regards

Mick

PS My thanks to all those who contributed positively, I appreciate your input.

Oh, I'm not on your ignore list, then? Who knew?

PS They all knew, Mick - it was an opportunity for people who like cars to shoot the breeze. No one minded, everyone enjoyed themselves, it's what people do. You, on the other hand? Well, calling me a bitch is surely against the AUP, and a bit beyond the pale. Not a nice person, are you?

I bought a nice car recently w/o consulting the forum, I do hope I haven't breached any rules?

Ok I will apologise for calling you a bitch, for that I am sorry, so please accept my apologies.

However there was no need for that stupid comment of yours, it was childish and unwarranted,

Anyway I am now departing from this thread, you have effectively killed it.

Mick

Mick

I'm not in the mood to accept your apology right now, as I don't think you mean it. I might tomorrow. My comment was not stupid, and nor am I.

Afraid you'll have to list it in the classifieds immediately. All proceeds to go toward Tony L's Eames chair/vintage synth fund. Them's the rules.

All evidence to the contrary excepted.

It was a stupid, mean spirited comment, Debs.
