Trying to get rid of the brittle glassy sound the CD does.

Do I understand it you want to change amp to cure your CD issue ?

CD issues can IME be attributed to the analogue output stage more than the DAC bits, and it’s likely that valve based players address this more than the digital experts like dCS, Wadia or Esoteric.

Maybe. All I know is that the valves are in the DAC but that's prob. irrelevant.

Yes, I think it’s irrelevant. It’s less the presence of the valves and what they are doing, more the likelihood that any designer familiar with valves has a good grasp of analogue and what matters there.

If it's a dac your after I can recommend dCS at a cost. I'm surprised no one has mention Lampizator (valves) different price levels, or the Playback Designs MPD8.
