As someone who reads this forum only occasionally
....you probably don't know it isn't that sort of forum.
Regarding the WAM show, I guess the salient points are, enlarging on what you said:
It's not like any other audio show, as it is enthusiasts exhibiting their own systems (including mine, a couple of years ago, and probably again, this year). These can range from the very high end and pricey, to the home built, to the belief defyingly cheap. And quaint, which is (I hope!) an euphemism for vintage and or rare - previous shows have had various high points such as the Lodgesound reel to reel room playing studio masters on studio reel to reels, and a on another occasion all the way from Germany a pair of extremely rare and old Klangfilm Eurodyne cinema speakers the size of small garden sheds (and which sounded fantastic).
It's also a great chance to meet face to face names from off the forums. If you bring your favourite music with you, getting it played on any of the systems is as easy as asking. The best systems are IMHO easily the equal of the best at a conventional show. And of course the hard sell is absent. There is often equipment and records etc for sale, though, and there have been a couple of trade rooms with systems the last year or two too.
The other point is that the venue is changing this year, from Scalford Hall, which had masses of English country house charm, but a high proportion of rooms which were often rather smaller than the exhibitors would have liked, to a new venue, Kegworth, where larger rooms are promised. So this year is a bit of an unknown, but an even better show is the hope, of course.
