Kit that, irrationally, you’ve always just wanted…

Big money in the mid 90's, never heard a pair, always thought they looked cool

ex brickie,

And back to @Joe P , a top of the range early 80s Pioneer rack system would be fab! Just to look at…..

If there's one in a charity shop I will find it. This is my super power.*

* It's all because of the kiddo, who desperately wants a vintage brick shithouse Singer sewing machine and is determined to find one for peanuts.

LYRA's Connoisseur 4-2L SE preamplifier.
I was round at a friends house but can't remember the exact system other than it included a large pair of expensive horn speakers and a preamp I aspired to and to be honest was quite underwhelmed until
he changed the preamp for the Connoisseur and it then sounded stunning.
Also looks to die for, unfortunately beyond my means both then and now.

I made a totally irrational purchase this year in the name of a Well Tempered turntable. For no other reason than I have always been intrigued by the design and fancied messing around with golf balls and gunk. Suffice to say I don’t regret buying it as it’s bloody brilliant!

Valves look cool, so I’d have an exotic glowing marvel on my list. I’d like speakers so large that I’d need to remove the front of my house to get them in the sitting room. Finally, a reel to reel, perhaps a Teac with a load of VU meters would finish off my irrational purchases.
