ITV X

Watching footy on ITVX at the moment - looks ok to me, but then again 4K would be no good anyway with our twenty year old plasma, which stubbornly will not die, and hence give me an excuse to buy a bigger and fancier telly like wot daughter has just bought!

Once you've gone 4K OLED, you'll wonder why you didn't accidently put the hoover handle through that plasma :)

It is a Pioneer? Or the other brand beginning with a P?

You have a market to sell those plasmas to...

Its certainly not 'full fat', they have made zero investment in 4K, and have only just managed to catch up to 1080p HD streaming with ITVX, which already about five years out of date.

Watching the ITV world cup footage is a disgrace considering that BBC can show it in 4K UHD.

Agreed, the 'terrestrial' channels that gone streaming are behind the times. The WC games on ITVX player from my PC to TV demonstrates woeful compression effects, the players facial features (eyes, nose, mouth) are non-existent on the wide angle shots of the match. I guess that and the schitty commentary is all part of the 'live and exclusive on ITV' experience.

I found BBC Iplayer in 4K too dark, it may be a bug on the TV app however, but it was like that in Euro 2020.

No problems here watching World Cup via iplayer in uhd on my Philips oled. ITV picture on freeview is crap in comparison

I’m a little disappointed this isn’t an ITV porn channel showing hot n’ heavy versions of Heartbeat and The Sweeney.

I used the ITX X app on my Firestick yesterday for the first time. The program played OK but the adverts constantly stuttered and buffered and dropped out, on two occasions I had to go back to main menu and play the program again. I tried several other programs and all exhibited the same behaviour.

During the session, I checked my download speed on another device and it was always around 15Mbits/s

Anyone know what's happening or maybe how to fix it? It's really annoying, the ad breaks are taking way longer than the program material in between!

I have had ITV X on my fire stick HD since it was introduced. It is more or less useless in my opinion for exactly the same problem you describe.
EVERY time it reaches an ad break on a catch up programme it freezes when the ads end and the show should restart. I restart it but it will only go back to the beginning and not where it crashed. So I fast forward it to where it crashed, It then plays fine - until the next ad break when it all happens again.
I don’t know whether this is an inherent fault with ITV X or the firestick OS.
I have tried all the Firestick suggestions on line re cache clearing, re installing, restarting etc, etc. to no avail.
It is very frustrating.

Thanks for the reply Bob, at least I know it's not just me! I'd be interested to know if anyone has ITVX working without issue on a Firestick.

If I find a solution I'll post it here.

Yeah, I’ve watched my daughter’s 65” LG….’tis a thing of beauty! And my wife agrees, so I think it will happen this coming year. Sooner, if I could get the Roomba to fly off the ground and smack the screen! LOL

It is indeed a Pioneer 504. Unfortunately it has an analogue tuner, so not much use as a TV, but the monitor is fine. Where is this market? They’d be welcome to it if they would collect - but it is very, very heavy.

Watched whichever of the WC games were on ITVX, with no issues. Turned the irritating commentary down though. It would be nice if one could select “crowd noises only”.

I need to clarify the issues only occur for me when watching catch up programmes.

live programmes are faultless.

Not much of a market in my personal experience. I had 2 x Pioneer 5000EX. Cost circa £6K each new, struggled to get near to £200 each after weeks of trying.
