There is an untold story about Ivor: in 1969 he made "Aliyah" to Israel, where he married his wife Evelyn. He tried to set up shop in a small community village in the northern part of Israel, but couldn't gain traction for his ideas. Eventually he left the country in 1971 and settled in his...

Linn Ikemi to Naim CDS3. Worthwhile?

Both are excellent. The Linn player has two major disadvantages: (1) the mechanics are crazy complicated and not easy to fix (2) the Brilliand SMPS, tends to blow up irreversibly when something goes wrong with it (we have a rescue kit for it though).

Which miniDSP box is best for my setup?

The best reason to add a DSP box (I always liked the heavy machinery from DEQX), is to actively cross between the SUB-woofer and the main speakers. Depending on speaker size and room dimensions, crossover frequency would be anywhere between 70 to 120 Hz at 24dB/Oct. With integrated amplifiers...

Has anyone tried to 552-ize any other Naim circuit ?

If you can post a close up photo of the 821, front and rear, I can mark the relevant traces you need to cut. Cheers, Yair

Has anyone tried to 552-ize any other Naim circuit ?

Hi Alan Nice one! I did run the A821 with +/-15V, which was excellent. I think that +/-24 is a bit too much... Keep in mind that the RC filters in the input and output need to be grounded to the signal ground, rather than the negative rail. This is the stitching part I mentioned earlier :)...

Has anyone tried to 552-ize any other Naim circuit ?

Hi all I'm not sure if this has been discussed here more than a dozen times, if it has, please feel free to close the thread. It's been ages since the standard power feed for Naim's preamp circuits is +24v and the return is 0v, the same 0v that is used for signal grounding, which is the root...

Nac 82 Nap 250 Dual Teddycap alt connection

The reason why Naim recommends routing the signal via the power supply, is that the signal and ground need to see the same impedance and therefore need to travel via the same route. In any case, no damage should incur if you try a direct connection, just look out for any hum or excessive noise.

Dual Teddycap (but also the NAPSC)

The DTC is fed by a custom made transformer, with a separate winding for the NAPSC regulator circuit. This means it has no interaction with the power rails that feed the audio circuit. TLDR: should not make any difference whether you use the embedded NAPSC or an external one. Thanks, Yair

Naim equipment with non-Naim power supplies

Thanks everyone for your kind comments! Just a quick word if I may: we have done a great deal of work in the past year, to improve the products' performance. This includes: better component selection across all products (the T-XPS received the biggest improvements), a new product: TeddyCAP SE...

Linn Kairn PSU upgrade... still available

Just FYI - we are offering a conversion kit for the Kairn, that would allow using an external PS (included in the package).
