Just to clarify but are the fuses changed the ones in the plug or actually lid off inside of the units fuses?
Not seen inside a naim unit before but many amps and other bits come with internal fuses too.
Sorry if I've misunderstood your post.
Firstly I apologise for starting this debate now but it's an interesting point you raise. I wouldn't call it cultural but at some times I would definitely call it defensive. I shall explain what I mean and shall digress and explain that when I bought my AVi's I did the usual auditioning of a lot...
Seriously though, put in context, there are a few thousand owners of the AVi actives and only a small, count on one hand, group that get your blood boiling.
So please try to remember that because sometimes I have been about to type something remotely positive but then think "why bother"...
Thanks Steve. I do believe that I have found my audio nirvana.
I do also believe that others choose different gear to suit their audio nirvana or hobby.
I do think a FEW owners need to understand the difference between enjoying one designers goal (ie ADM's) and someone else's goal of hi...
Well as you can tell I own 9.1's and of course posted here when I should of backed off.. I have taken the bait it seems....meaning now I am open to flaming, accusations of being a shill, that I am defensive of my speakers.. etc etc. You know what I mean....
But really, and speaking for myself...
"Anyone we know"..... do you really think any normal avi owner who has no affiliation and just likes his speakers, much to everyones annoyance, would even dare enter this trash talk of a thread part III?????
This thread has become a nasty one and for people like myself who may be interested in these 40's I feel less inclined to say anything, until now, as it seems to be all venom. How very sad. It's like a play ground here with childish behaviour. I expect to be flamed now of course. The sad thing...
I believe these are the old adm40 idea with the 10" bass drivers firing sideways. These were tested but found to have reflection issues and the idea shelved. The new 40's are 2 way with the optional sub or stereo subs.
Item I hear (read) what you are saying about price but is this really a valid point in this industry where 99% of hifi or hi end is clearly overpriced for what you get. If I could be bothered I could go through every manufacturers products and give you a far more shocking tale than you paint...
Item, I have read many pages of your waffle on many forums of reducing non audible problems and selling mac mini's and many other snake skin oil products for many times their face value so could you please stop with the hypocrisy.
Personally I would rip at a higher setting. 128 is what I reserve for my phone or car. This low a bit rate is quite lossy and obvious to me. If space is available why not try the best quality setting apple lossless. Like another said here about 1 gb per 3 albums would be an average.
In itunes go to the top left and click on Itunes.... the drop down down menu appears... now select preferences...
Then in General Tab look for the long oval box with "import settings" in. Click this.
Here you have your different options for quality of rips. Choose what you wish. Apple lossless...
Tony, I am no expert and my comment was based just on what I have read and listened to and as I said I may be wrong but was just an opinion. I base it on the proliferation over the years of active crossover designs being implemented and some producing good results and others producing poorer...
