Hank is a great little album, Nixon is the big one, Is A Woman is beautiful, and Damaged is fantastic in parts, less so in others. Worth having for the first and last tracks alone. Amazing band. I saw them play at York Opera House years ago. It was magical.

I saw them play at Leeds Festival in August, in the NME tent. It was pretty special. I much prefer Dave Grohl on drums. My problem with the Foo's is that it's all rage - veins bulging from his neck and forehead, and lots of angst and shouting. But it's all fart and no shit. It's all a bit empty...

I disagree that Jool's Later has become an old fart fest. I think it's fantastic how eclectic the show is. Years ago the show was dreadful, with a range of coffee table acts, a token African percussion outfit and Jools honky tonking along on the joanna, helping to guarantee that any song played...

The singer is too important to even turn up. The rest of them are nice lads. I thought nearly all the performances lacked that certain vitality that makes the Beatles recordings so magical. I thought Travis nailed Lovely Rita though.

The doco on TV is a shortened version of a film called 30 Century Man which is doing a tour of art house cinemas at the moment. I'm sure it will get a DVD release at some point, and no doubt the Beeb will repeat the edited version too. I agree with you about Tilt and The Drift. Regards...
