Lambchop

James Evans

Bedroom Bodger
I've had "is a woman" for years and never really listened to it. Put it on yesterday on a whim and it hit the spot. So, what else do I need by them? I get the feeling there's probably some very good music I'm missing. Recommendations in a similar vein gratefully accepted too!

Cheers

James

I think 'Nixon' is their best, although there are a couple of tracks at the end that are 'on the outside', and seem quite out of place with the rest. Huge hooks, and more memorable songs for me than 'Is A Woman'. My next choice would be the 'Aw C'mon, No you C'mon, 2CD box set. Have a listen to those & see if you like them.
Cheers,
Greg

Thanks, the cover of this corrosion caught me by surprise while listening to it. Forgot it was on there. Made me smile!

Also forgot about spotify, will have to do some listening if their stuff is on there.

Hank is a great little album, Nixon is the big one, Is A Woman is beautiful, and Damaged is fantastic in parts, less so in others. Worth having for the first and last tracks alone.

Amazing band. I saw them play at York Opera House years ago. It was magical.

Mine-

The gold stereo
stretches out the sound
turns the plates until they're rounded
the whole that you know
gets closer to the ground
closer to that thing you found

Chorus:
for all our massive brains
to call on choked remains
it's painful
it's certain
that something's bound to break
(inside)

this house is not alone
I'm kicking 'round here somewhere
so check behind the ancient speaker
Like painful southern bliss
pured upon like caramel
and garnished with some crushed pecans

To grow is not to grind
to mope is not to mind
the old cap
the geezer
the 15 second teaser

Behold and you know
everyone's a ringer
he's not even a very good singer
The dirt on the tracks
has hardened into clusters
earthen legs and honey mustard

A storm is closing in
our leaves start to spin
It's getting
much later
I wish I heard your radio
(tonight)

the people in the rain
are staring through our backs
wishing you had half a brain
for all our little pain
tender is the mangle
the science diet the ivory tangle

The world goes away

I'm listening to OH(Ohio) right now, which is also pretty good.

Nixon didn't work for me, Is A Woman probably my favourite so far, subsequent albums C'Mon, Damage, OH, excellent, but not as intense as Is A Woman.

Thanks for reminding me to try What Another Man Spills.

Heh! you lovely people! you might like this album if you like Lambchop...

You missed out one of my favourite ever lyrics:-
"The guy on the cross is holier than I, but then again, he's made from plastic."

Brilliant bathos!
