Violinists can’t tell the difference between Stradivarius violins and new ones

I wonder if they would kick you out if you were already there and then bought the new/carbon fibre?

Music that you dislike for no reason other than personal prejudice...

Take a name, replace any "c" with a "k" or worse, "q"; result is zero cred, won't like you. Same for any other perfectly good letters.

    Richard Coughlan (Caravan) RIP

Ick, thanks for letting us know, very sad to hear this. "Canterbury" music still gets played at lot in my house. I wasn't aware that he ran "The Sun Inn" at Faversham, I'll make that a reason to go there when I next vist the UK.

    Caravan

About time someone mentioned this album! I love all the other stuff but this is one that for some reason gets played quite a bit, it is a perfect Sunday afternoon album and the best of the Pye dominated albums. Well said that man. I just wish they'd come visit Australia, I miss them all.

    The Winkies

Thanks for the reply, doesn't appear to be much love here for them but I wouldn't mind hearing more. I'll keep an eye out in my local "Dixons" second hand shop.

    The Winkies

Having recently bought the DVD "The REAL Spinal Tap" aka "The Ballad of Mott The Hoople" there is a reference to the Winkies. This sparked my interest as I remember the Hypnosis cover. Surprisingly, the album hasn't received a CD release. YouTube suggests this is the type of pub-rock that...

    Mick Ronson

I think "Slaughter" is a given, I'm embarrased that I don't have this already - but what is the next I buy, bearing in mind I want "Hard Life".

    Mick Ronson

Found this thread on a search for Mick Ronson recommendations. I was in the car the other night off to rehearsal with Elvis [yes, he is alive and living in Melbourne] listening to RRR or maybe it was PBS. These stations are tolerable at about that time, just before 7:00 and suddenly came on a...

    Steve Hillage - Germany 77

Live Herald is sufficient. I bought the CD version a little while back and it's a good record of when I saw him at the"Venue" in victoria, long since gone.

Music you should like but don't

Having grown up appreciating Yes, I couldn't guess how many times I heard people say "if you like Yes then you must like Genesis". I thought not then and still do. Now, Gabriel solo is a different kettle of tea.

Is this the best Telecaster sound?

The thread still lives! I totally agree with the Wilko recommendations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hyr__kGhUC0
