Your computer has been restored to an earlier point

Hello.

On this dell I have it backing up every evening which to date seems to have been fine.

Today it tells me that 'my computer has been restored to a previous point in time, as a result my backup setting might be out of date.'

I did not ask it to restore.

I have googled but there is not a terrific amount with people being told to use another back up software or what ever. But really why's it saying that?

Is it backing up still?

Sounds like you have system restore points enabled and it recovered from a crash. Have a look in the event log for any errors.

What backup software are you using?

The windows 7 one.

There has been no evidence of a crash. It was sat on the dock there, doing nothing, I happen to have the back up window open, it starts backing up then says that at the end of the back up.

I clicked back up again and it backed up again but said that again at the end.

No worries. It's taking you back to a simpler time. Soon you will see this, and all will be well.

ah the good ol' days.

Happier times for sure, all you had to worry about was how many fonts you could fit in suitcase without running out of floppy space.

Couldn't afford the mighty 20meg harddrive at the time.
